"I just don't care"... It sounds so cold and unfeeling and irresponsible. We're always supposed to care... and gosh, if people didn't care, wouldn't the world clearly be a terrible place?!

Well, maybe not. Sometimes a little less caring could be a good thing.

How about a little less caring about the outcome of what we do? Doing for the joy of doing, without needing the results to validate our worthiness.

How about a little less caring about making mistakes? Not judging ourselves (or others) when we make mistakes. And not avoiding something for fear of making a mistake. After all, we're all human, and we will always make mistakes.

How about a little less caring about what other people think? Knowing that every person's perspectives and beliefs will always be in many ways very different from our own (created through the filter of the completely unique, invisible, and random stream of 80,000 personal human thoughts per day).

How about a little less caring about exposing our insecurities and perceived weaknesses? Not having to worry about hiding behind a 1000 masks. Being able to just be ourselves, warts and all.

How about a little less caring about the future and the past? Less worries. Less regrets. After all, the present moment is the only thing that truly exists.

There's a lot of freedom in "not caring". And ironically, in that space of freedom, we actually feel more compassion, love, and gentleness toward ourselves and others.

So how do we learn to care a little less? Well it may not be that easy to "do", or it may instead be as easy as realizing just one new thought... seeing a glimpse of the truth of who we really are; perfectly imperfect miraculous human beings, innocently doing the best we can in each moment, based on our continuously fluctuating levels of Consciousness, our nonstop flow of randomly secure and insecure Thought, and our common connection to the incomprehensible vibrating energy of all things (Mind).

And so maybe that's something to care about, or maybe not.
